Godfatherhood in haircuts is essentially defined as a magical act widespread in Croatia between the 15th and 20th centuries. In it, hair is accepted as a ritual attribute, and the ceremony marks the entry into adolescence, whose spiritual expression is a symbol of obedience and devotion to God.
The figure of the godfather in the haircut is associated primarily with historically established social and religious ideas and practices about the need for a patron, patron, guardian. Through it the transformation of the gender identity takes place - the transition from the space of one's own to the space perceived as foreign. It strengthens interpersonal relations not only in the intra-family relations of a genus, but also in relation to intercultural and even interreligious communities in certain regions.
Godfatherhood in haircuts represents both public and ritual acceptance of the child as a new member of the family or in general in the wider social community and thus plays an important role in the self-determination of the family unit in society.
